'Green Star' Standard

This Village has been designed to comply with The New Zealand Green Building Council NZGBC Green Star rating scheme criteria.

This rating is a comprehensive, international, voluntary environmental rating scheme that evaluates the environmental attributes and performance of buildings, using a suite of rating tool kits developed to be applicable to each building type and function.

What does this mean to residents?
It means residents will be cosy all year round at reasonable energy costs because of window double-glazing and roof, wall and floor insulation being of higher performance levels than usual. Apartment residents draw from two storage tanks pre-heated by solar panel.

It means the attractive Southland beech used on all the doors and window frames comes from a forest where supply is managed without the resource diminishing.

Many of the products used in construction are licensed by Environmental Choice New Zealand because of their low volatile organic compounds. This means the paint and carpets in your new home will not have an objectionable smell.

Building products using reduced formaldehyde, floor coverings with reduced PVC products, the use of low energy lighting, and appliances all within one star of the maximum energy rating, are all incorporated into your new home.

Colour Me Wanaka

Wanaka is a wonderful part of New Zealand, with its own colours and special light. Those features will be translated into a special range of wall, floor and window treatments designed to look and feel as luxurious as they really are.
